Autumn Collection

Autumn outfits for women: jackets, knitwear and seasonal accessories

An autumn outfit is built in three layers that go on and come off as the day unfolds: a fine knit, a jacket, then a scarf or a silk square. Every piece in this edit is in stock and made to be worn together, from the transitional jacket to the long puffer jacket.

Autumn is the season when you dress three times a day: crisp in the morning, mild at lunchtime, damp by evening. A well-judged autumn outfit is therefore built in layers that go on and come off without undoing the silhouette. This collection brings together every piece of women's autumn clothing from the house currently in stock, grouped by category, so you can put together a complete autumn look, from the jacket to the scarf.

The transitional jacket, the first piece of an autumn outfit

An autumn jacket has to cut the morning wind without overheating you in the afternoon. The blouson from our campaign image, cut in structured faux leather, sets the standard: a grained faux leather that feels supple to the touch, a light, breathable lining, and elasticated cuffs and waist that keep the air out. It is the women's transitional jacket that layers over a fine knit without compressing it, and the autumn jacket you keep wearing until the first cold snap.

For a dressier look, the short black tweed jacket combines 65% cotton, 32% polyester and 3% wool, lined in black satin: the cotton lets the skin breathe, and the lining glides over a jumper without catching the fibres. The khaki safari jacket with drawcords and the satin bomber complete the range: each between-seasons jacket can be worn open over a shirt or fastened over a roll-neck. A transitional jacket is chosen first by its lining, since that is what separates a proper autumn jacket from a simple overshirt.

Lightweight or long puffer jacket: two distinct uses

The puffer jackets in this collection do not play the same role. The short styles with 3/4 sleeves are the quintessential lightweight puffer jacket for mid-season: airy filling, minimal weight, worn on their own on cool September and October mornings or slipped under a coat later in the season. The long belted puffer jackets fall below the knee and stand in for a transitional coat: a mid-season puffer that doubles as an autumn coat, with the belt defining the waist to keep a clean line.

The white mixed-fabric puffer jacket is the only piece in the edit filled with duck down. Down keeps you warm by trapping air: a gentle shake as you take it off is enough to restore its loft. It is the piece for cold days at the end of November; once winter has truly set in, the winter outfits for women collection takes over.

Autumn knitwear: what the compositions really tell you

An autumn jumper is judged by its composition more than by its thickness. The V-neck jumper from our campaign blends 55% merino wool and 45% cashmere: the merino gives the knit its spring, the cashmere its softness and warmth. The knitted wool cardigans are 100% wool, a supple, even knit that is hand-washed in cold water. The black mohair high-neck jumper plays on the downy halo of the fibre, which holds in air without adding weight.

The knit co-ords, a matching jumper and long skirt, are made in 70% viscose and 30% polyamide, with a 95 cm high-waisted skirt: together they fall like a maxi dress, and they separate to be worn with trousers. The burgundy set in our campaign image is one of them, with its line of cabochons along the shoulder seams. All our jumpers and cardigans are gathered in their own section.

Autumn trousers, skirts and dresses

The lower half of the outfit bridges the seasons. The wide-leg camel pleated trousers worn in the campaign and the 100% worsted wool trousers with an elasticated waist are the two warm staples of the range; the faux leather trousers in camel, black or khaki add the polished sheen of autumn. For skirts, the A-line midi styles in faux leather are lined along their full length with brushed fleece: the polished look of faux leather outside, the warmth of wool inside, with no visible bulk.

An autumn dress is best chosen with long sleeves and in a fabric that holds the warmth. Among our autumn dresses, the collection offers long ribbed-knit dresses in ecru, brown or black, short tweed dresses with pearl-trimmed collars, or a long black satin shirt dress for the evening. They are worn with boots and a cropped jacket, or under a long puffer jacket. Find all our dresses and all our trousers in their own sections.

Scarves and silk squares: the accessory that defines the season

At Misciano, autumn is above all silk square season: from September to November 2025, more than four in ten pieces sold on the site were silk squares. The 90 x 90 cm silk square in double-sided natural silk is knotted at the neck under a jacket collar, as in our campaign image, or draped over the shoulder of a coat. Our guide how to tie a silk square around your neck walks through the knots, and every size is brought together in the silk squares collection.

For warmth, scarves change register. The pure cashmere scarf measures 50 x 180 cm, with ribbed finishes at each end; the luxury-blend scarves combine 80% modal, 15% wool and 5% cashmere over 180 x 85 cm, a size that also works as a stole. The ombré scarves in 50% silk and 50% cotton, in the same size, carry you through mid-season. All our scarves and foulards are in their own section.

Building an autumn outfit in three layers

Three autumn looks, or fall outfits as they are known in the US. For the city: a merino and cashmere V-neck jumper, wide-leg camel trousers, a faux leather blouson and a silk square knotted at the neck. For the office: a long-sleeved shirt, a wool cardigan, a pleated midi skirt and a tweed jacket. For the weekend: a knit co-ord, a long belted puffer jacket and a cashmere scarf. Each look keeps a fine layer, a warm layer and a layer that blocks the wind: that is the rule that keeps an autumn outfit comfortable from morning to evening. More combinations are set out in our article from the office to the weekend: the autumn essentials.

Frequently asked questions

Which jacket should I wear in autumn when the days are mild and the evenings cool?

A lined transitional jacket with fitted cuffs, such as the faux leather blouson or the satin-lined tweed jacket: open in the afternoon, fastened in the evening, always over a fine knit.

Wool, cashmere or mohair: which knit should I choose for autumn?

A merino and cashmere blend is the most versatile for mid-season; pure wool suits cardigans worn as a jacket; mohair, with its downier finish, holds in the warmth on colder days.

Lightweight puffer jacket or coat for mid-season?

In September and October, a lightweight puffer jacket with 3/4 sleeves or a jacket is usually enough. In November, the long belted puffer jacket takes on the role of a coat and covers you to below the knee.

How should I care for faux leather and knitwear?

Faux leather should be dry-cleaned and aired, with no tumble dryer and no direct ironing. Wool and cashmere knits are hand-washed in cold water and dried flat.

Which pieces are worth keeping from one autumn to the next?

Dense, neutral pieces stand the test of time: wide-leg camel trousers, a merino and cashmere jumper, a 90 x 90 silk square and a cashmere scarf can be restyled every autumn with the season's new arrivals.
