Ivory, more wearable than white
Pure white is a difficult colour: it hardens skin tone, it yellows in washing and it shows everything. The ivory of this skirt is an off-white with a slightly warm undertone, which solves all three problems at once. It warms the skin instead of cutting across it, it ages without shifting, and it forgives the white variations of the top you wear with it.
The Wearing Experience
- A colour that warms: the ivory leans towards cream, never towards blue, and pairs with all whites.
- Verified opacity: the viscose is woven dense enough not to require a slip.
- A side slit: it opens the stride without exposing the thigh.
- A flat waist: nothing gathers at the waistband, a tucked-in top stays crisp.
Craftsmanship & Fabric
100% viscose, a cellulosic fibre with heavy drape and a cool hand. On a light piece, viscose has a precise advantage over cotton: its surface is smoother and more regular, so it diffuses light instead of breaking it. This is what prevents an ivory from looking greyish indoors, a frequent flaw in light cottons with irregular weave.
Like its taupe version, the skirt is constructed in panels: two horizontal seams run through the body of the garment and release a very slight A-line towards the hem. This seaming is what replaces the lining. On a light piece, avoiding lining is a deliberate choice: a synthetic lining under ivory viscose would create two different whites, visible in transparency as soon as light passes behind. The dense weave does the work on its own. On the subject of light pieces and how to wear them without weighing them down, our article on the art of wearing white gives the right guidelines.
Styling Tips
- In an all-light look, with a cream vest and nude sandals: the close shades respond to each other without contradicting.
- With a chocolate brown or taupe top, the warm contrast shows off the ivory better than black.
- With a denim jacket and flat sandals, the most casual version.
It complements the other lengths in our long skirts section.
It pairs with the white t-shirt with rhinestone-set sheer sleeves for a light monochrome look, and the same skirt exists in taupe.
Care for Your Piece
Gentle wash at 30 °C, by hand preferably, inside out. No bleach, even on a light piece: chlorine yellows viscose instead of whitening it. No tumble dryer, no dry cleaning. Never wring the wet skirt, press it between two towels then dry flat in the shade. Ironing with a cool iron on the reverse side.
