A twilly is a silk ribbon folded lengthwise with tapered ends, tied to a bag handle, neck, wrist, or hair. Misciano twillys are printed in Italy on the same silk twill as our scarves, hand-rolled, and feature our house designs.

The scarf twilly was born in the workshops of the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in the early 2000s to dress bag handles; it has since become a full-fledged accessory, worn around the neck as a thin tie, at the wrist as a bracelet, in the hair on a ponytail, or tied as a belt over a dress. It is the lightest silk accessory in our range, and the simplest to give: a women's twilly slips into an envelope.
Each Misciano silk twilly draws from the world of one of the house's scarves: the Golden Zodiac, Blue Porcelain, Dream Canvas, Golden Alley, Compass Rose, Love Letters, Wax Seals, Garnet Jewels, Snow Leopard, Ink Peonies, or Place Vendôme. The design is not simply cut from the scarf; it is recomposed for the band, in a line or continuous frieze, and calculated for the visible half once the ribbon is folded. A silk twilly and a scarf from the same universe can be worn together, one on the bag, the other at the neck, without repeating.
This collection exists because the silk scarf does not cover all uses: a 90 x 90 is too large for a bag handle or wrist, and a small scarf ties but does not wrap. The twilly ribbon fills this gap between the scarf and the jewel.

A twilly scarf in the hair holds better than a silk elastic: two layers of twill catch each other at the knot, preventing the slipping of a single scarf. On a bag handle, the spiral must be tight and started with a flat knot, otherwise the ribbon twists around the leather.
A ribbon is more demanding to make than a scarf. The lengthwise fold must be perfectly straight over 90 cm, otherwise the twilly twists. The ends cut at 45 degrees must fall symmetrically and be rolled to the very tip, which is the most difficult part of hand-rolling. Finally, the design must remain legible on 6 cm width: that is why our twillys are composed in a line of medallions or a continuous frieze, never a reduction of a scarf.
The silk twill used is the same as our scarves: a dense, discreet diagonal weave that holds the knot and resists creasing. High-definition printing captures the engraving line of the designs, and the dyes are fixed to withstand hand washing. Colorfastness tests follow the same standards as our scarves, ISO 105-C06 for washing and ISO 105-B02 for light.
Both can be worn at the neck and in the hair; the difference is in the gesture. The twilly wraps, the small scarf folds. For a bag handle or wrist, the ribbon is the only one that holds. For a bandana or head scarf, the small silk scarf 50 x 50 covers where the ribbon only makes a line. For the shoulders, you need to move up to the silk scarf 90 x 90.
