90x90 Silk Square: The House's Historic Format

The 90 x 90 cm silk square is the king format of the square scarf: it allows all tying styles, from the triangle on the shoulders to the turban, and shows the design in full once draped. It is Misciano's historic format, the one of our double-sided printed squares, made in Italy, in hand-rolled silk twill.

The 90 x 90 cm silk square has been the reference format for silk houses since the 1930s, and Misciano's historic format. Its 127 cm diagonal allows a triangle that covers the shoulders, a six-centimeter band that wraps three times around the neck, a complete turban, a belt tied at the waist, or a bustier top in summer. It is the only format that lends itself to all tying styles, and the one that shows the design in full once draped over the shoulders. It is the silk scarf that does everything, from a square silk scarf on the shoulders to three turns around the neck.

The 90 silk square scarf is also the one that takes up the most volume: under a closed coat collar, it must be folded into a narrow band, or switch to the 70 x 70 silk square. For hair and wrist, the small 50 x 50 square suffices.

The house's 90 squares

This collection brings together our double-sided printed squares, Promenade à Misciano, Jardin suspendu, Boussole céleste, Plan de ville, Aurore rose poudré, Mosaïque nocturne and others, and the engraving designs composed for this format, Place Vendôme, Quatre saisons, Labyrinthe enchanté. Some are all-over prints, readable from both sides of the twill; others are line drawings with central medallion and border, in the style of maps and engraved plates.

All bear the Misciano Paris signature, and all are cut from the same natural silk twill, hand-rolled and printed in Italy.

Silk twill, measured

Our 90 squares are woven in 100% natural silk twill, with a weight of 80 to 95 g/m² (19 to 22 momme), recognizable by its subtle diagonal, dense feel, and resistance to creasing. The edges are hand-rolled over three meters and sixty centimeters of perimeter. Color fastness is measured according to ISO 105-C06 for hand washing and ISO 105-B02 for light, with more than thirty washing cycles without notable loss of intensity.

Made in Italy, each square is delivered in its Misciano box. To understand what distinguishes this twill from satin, read silk square, twill or satin. All the house's formats are gathered in the silk squares collection.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the 90x90 the reference format?

Because its 127 cm diagonal allows both the triangle on the shoulders and three wraps around the neck in a band: no other format does both.

What is a double-sided printed square?

An impression whose pattern goes through the twill and remains readable on both sides, allowing you to turn a panel at the knot to change the effect.

How to wear a 90 silk square in the hair?

As a turban, folded into a triangle and tied at the forehead, or as a wide band tied at the nape. Silk stays in place without slipping.

How to wash a 90 silk square?

By hand in a basin of cold water, mild soap, without wringing; dry flat, pulling the edges, iron on the reverse at low temperature.
