Collection: Bikinis

At Misciano, our two-piece swimsuits are designed in our Tuscan workshops with technical fabrics selected for their hold, comfort and resistance to chlorine and salt. Each model, from the shaping shorty to the string bikini, is crafted to flatter every silhouette with elegance.

Women's two-piece swimsuit: independent adjustment of top and bottom and types of cut

The two-piece is not a uniform category: it consists of four top cuts with opposing effects on the bust. The triangle (thin laces) exposes maximally, without support. The bandeau (horizontal band) cuts the bust horizontally. The wrap (crossing) structures the V-neckline and adds apparent volume. The tankini (long top type) covers the belly and is worn like a one-piece swimsuit visually. The cut of the top determines the morphological effect much more than the color or pattern.

Triangle top: the minimalist cut

The triangle top consists of two fabric triangles held by laces at the shoulders and behind the neck. Without underwire or preformed cup: the shape is that of the fabric alone. Advantages: minimal tanning (little fabric), versatility of laces (precise adjustment), most minimal look. Limitations: insufficient support from a C-D cup: the triangles stretch and descend with effort (swimming, water games). For generous busts: thin laces create marks and the pressure is poorly distributed. The solution: a triangle with inserted underwire or with a wider elastic band under the bust.

Bandeau top: the horizontal cut

The bandeau is a horizontal band of elastic fabric worn without straps. Its particularities: it creates a horizontal line on the bust (to avoid if you want to visually elongate). It can slip while swimming: versions with removable straps solve this problem. It is ideal for backs to highlight (total bare back, back tanning) and for small busts (A-B cup) that do not need support. Pre-molded cup bandeau version: creates shape and apparent volume without straps: the most flattering version of the bandeau for small busts. The simple elastic bandeau (without cup) is the least structuring and is mainly suitable for flat busts.

Wrap top: the structured neckline

The wrap top (or front cross) forms a V by crossing the fabric panels. This central V draws the eye to the center and visually elongates the bust. It is the most flattering cut for generous busts: it supports them by enveloping (unlike the triangle which leaves the sides free) and distributes the weight on the back laces more evenly. For small busts: the wrap creates the illusion of volume with central gathers. Version with underwire: the support is equivalent to a bra. Disadvantage: the laces in the back are sometimes complex to tie alone.

Two-piece bottoms: high waist, classic bikini, thong

The classic bikini bottom (mid-waist): covers the hips and lower belly. The top line of the bottom passes at hip level: can accentuate the width of the hips if the line is horizontal at this point. High waist (above the navel): the line passes higher and narrower: elongates the legs and visually slims the waist. Particularly flattering on pear or triangle shapes. Thong (mini triangle): exposes the buttocks and hips: maximal tanning, very revealing effect. The thin elastic can "cut" the hips visually at their widest point. The proportion between the top and bottom must be coherent: a structured and covering top with a very revealing thong bottom creates a visual dissonance.

Composition and resistance: the choice of fabric

Polyamide 80% / elastane 20%: the high-end standard. Superior chlorine resistance, maintains shape over several seasons. Polyester 80% / elastane 20%: less resistant to chlorine, more accessible. Lycra XTRA LIFE: chlorine-resistant certified elastane: manufacturers who use it mention it. Lining of the top: a double top (fabric lining inside) is more resistant and more opaque than a non-lined top. The lining also protects the elastane from the inside against chlorine.

Mesh: two pieces by color and style

By color: black swimsuits, blue swimsuits, pink swimsuits. Specifically high-waisted bikinis: high-waisted bikinis. For one-piece swimsuits: one-piece swimsuits. For all beachwear: beachwear.

FAQ: women's two-piece swimsuit

Which bikini top cut for a generous bust?
The underwired wrap is the most suitable cut: it envelops the bust, distributes the weight evenly on the back ties, and maintains the shape. Avoid the simple triangle (thin ties that create marks, slips with effort) and the strapless bandeau (insufficient support). From a C cup: look for a top with plastic underwires or pre-molded cups.
High-waisted bottoms or classic bikini bottoms?
High-waisted (above the navel): the line passes at the narrowest part of the torso: elongates the legs and visually slims the waist. Flattering on pear, triangle, or hourglass shapes. Classic bottoms (mid-waist): the line passes at the hips: can accentuate width if the line is horizontal at this point. To visually elongate the legs: high-waisted is the best option.
Can you buy the top and bottom of a two-piece separately?
Yes: it is one of the major advantages of the two-piece over the one-piece swimsuit: you can buy a top in size S and a bottom in size M if the body shapes do not match. Check that the fabric, color, and finishes are consistent if purchased separately (identical dye between two different orders may vary slightly).
