A cotton skirt you put on in the morning without thinking

The skirt is 100% cotton, a matte poplin fabric, tightly woven, with no elastane. This is what explains its drape: cotton doesn't sag like viscose, it holds the gathers in place and forms neat vertical pleats under the waistband, instead of clinging to the thigh.
The construction is more carefully done than a gathered waist skirt might suggest. The gathering isn't rushed: the fabric is evenly distributed across the full circumference, which avoids bunching on the belly, the classic flaw of this type of waistband. Care for Your Piece
Delicate wash at 30 °C, by hand preferably, and always inside out. No bleach, no tumble dryer, no dry cleaning. Iron on low heat inside out while the cotton is still slightly damp: this is the only time the poplin regains its neat appearance without becoming shiny.
