Cotton black is nothing like synthetic black. It absorbs light instead of reflecting it, it never makes pleats shine, and it ages by developing patina rather than graying in patches. This is the quality of black you look for in a skirt meant to be worn often, and that's what this piece offers.

Craftsmanship & Material
Composition: 100% cotton. On a black piece, this detail decides everything else. Synthetic fibres take deep dye baths poorly and whiten at the seams from the first wash; cotton, on the other hand, takes dye throughout its mass and retains its color density much longer, provided you wash it cold and inside out.
The construction follows the same logic as its blush beige version: gathers distributed around the entire circumference to avoid bulk at the belly, piped buttoned pocket inserted into the waistband at the back, side slit topstitched flat so it doesn't gape. Nothing is lined, and that's intentional: a lining on a summer poplin would turn the skirt into a mid-season piece. Our feature on 2026 skirts revisits this balance between structure and lightness.

Care for Your Piece
Delicate wash at 30°C, by hand preferably, and absolutely inside out: this is what preserves the depth of the black. No bleach, no tumble dryer, no dry cleaning. Press with a cool iron on the reverse. Avoid drying the skirt in direct sunlight, which fades black cotton faster than washing.
