The summer dress where the adjustment is at the shoulder
The flaw of the empire waist is always the same: two centimeters too low, it crushes the bust; two centimeters too high, it squeezes the chest. This short brown dress moves the adjustment to where it becomes useful, on the shoulder. The straps tie, so the gathered band sits exactly under the bust, regardless of the length of the torso. It is the same dress that fits perfectly on two silhouettes that do not resemble each other.
The Wearing Experience
- Tie straps: the adjustment is continuous along the entire length of the tie, without notches or buckles that impose their fixed points.
- Elasticated gathered waist: the band follows your breathing and your lunch, without the compression point of an added belt.
- Short and full skirt: the volume comes from the gathering, walking remains completely free and the hem stops at mid-thigh.
- Light and matte fabric: opaque in full sun, it dries quickly after a swim and does not hold suitcase creases.
Know-How & Material
Woven 95% polyester, 5% elastane, fine weave and matte finish, in a warm brown slightly grayed that does not turn reddish in daylight.
These 5% elastane are not there to make the dress stretchy. In a woven fabric, this proportion gives a low elongation but an almost total elastic recovery, and it is this that holds the waistband over time. A gathering mounted on a simple bare elastic relaxes over washes and eventually gapes; here the elasticity is distributed in the fabric itself across the entire width of the band, and the gather returns to its place with each wear.
The volume of the skirt comes from the gathering at the waist, not from a circular cut. The difference is not seen in the fitting room, it is seen after a season: a circle skirt works on the bias and ends up dropping to a point on the sides, whereas a straight gathered panel keeps its hem horizontal because it is cut on the grain. Styling Tips
- In the height of summer, flat strappy sandals and a raffia basket are enough: the brown does the work of a print on its own.
- At the end of the season, an open denim shirt over the shoulders and heeled mules; the knots of the straps remain visible, it is the detail that signs the piece.
- The contrast that works: matte and natural materials around it, unvarnished leather, raffia, thick cotton, so that the lightness of the fabric stands out instead of being repeated.

Caring for Your Piece
Machine wash at 30 °C on delicate program, dress turned inside out and straps placed in a mesh bag so they do not tangle in the drum. Polyester does not need fabric softener, which dulls the matte finish of the weave without adding anything. Dry on a hanger: the dress regains its shape on its own and the hem does not hold the mark of the clothesline. Iron at low temperature if necessary, never directly on the waistband, whose elasticity does not like heat.
